I'm going to try this excellent tip. I have been turning the anti-scalp wheels 90° and putting the pins in at that position. My biggest problem is reattaching the PTO shaft. No room and I have to use my left arm, which is weaker due to foramenal stenosis in my neck. I'm going to try heating up the slip yoke with a heat gun next time and see if it slides easier.

Man Lucas, I'm SO jealous of your pond. I've been wanting to buy an excavator to dig a pond on our property ever since we bought the property 3 years ago. But since buying the property, I've been spending money on tractors, building buildings, etc, etc....But at some point, after I stop hemorrhaging money on other things, I'm going to buy an excavator, dig the pond, and then sell the excavator again, and hopefully dig my pond for a small amount of money.

I have the same tractor and love it. I had one warranty issue that was looked after by my dealer, the rear PTO seal started leaking after using the brush hog, replaced and oil topped up by the dealer and no further issues. I did have to tighten the throttle bolt and nut, i wasn't staying up at RPM, easy job after watching a youtube video. And lastly, the removal of the oil and hydraulic filters proved to be challenging, I'm not sure who tightened them at the factory but way to tight.

Finally built ours. Only about 8/10ths of an acre but it looks good where it is. Trying to get it stocked now but the right size and mixture of fish hasn't shown up as of yet. Still, the deer are using it for watering, the turkeys have room to strut, the dove use it morning and evening, we hear more quail in the evening, and the frog and cricket sounds at night are amazing (we even crack the window in the bedroom to listen to them). Additionally, we plan on using it for irrigation of the garden and yard. Oh, the dogs absolutely love it. They think we bought them a swimming pool. Glad we could finally afford to have it done cash on the barrel head as we've committed to not buying anything else on credit.

Your pond looks great! I jumped into my redneck swimming pool yesterday after weed eating and it felt great! One thing I did that really makes it more like a swimming pool is I had a well put in that pumps 10,000 gallons of water into it every day that's on a timer. Its about a 1/2 acre pond and the warmer water on top that goes over the spillway like a pool skimmer.. The water is crystal clear and it stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter it never freezes over. I also have a waterfall pumps 8,000 gallons an hour that helps aerate the water.

If I had the budget I would go for dual wheels over spacers, as duals are wider. Also with "click" type duals a wheeel can be removed easily. I grew up on a hill country farm and the 80 hp tractor had duals, while the 45hp tractor had adjustable rims set to a 7'6" track over the factory 6" track.

They have some properties on there that are like $200 down and $200 a month, just depending on what you're looking for and how big of a property you want! I built my pond 10 years ago. I got some estimates and it ran around $30K. Needless to say I didn't go that route. I bought an old dozer and dug an 1&1\4 acre pond. It's 14' deep in the center. I hit pretty hard clay and spread it all over the slopes of the pond. I kept the stumps from some of the hardwoods I had to clear. I ended up burying the stumps in the pond upside down to add structure along with cinder blocks and pvc pipes. Since I wanted some catfish I built fish breeding structures from two five gallon buckets tywraped together with an entrance on one end and the other end buried in the banks a few feet down. I have to say I get catfish spawns every year so they are working well. After the pond was finished it filled with water within two months. I thought it would take years. I found a pond with lots of red fin shinners and I caught several hundred and put them in the new pond. Now the important part. You have to add fertilizer to green the water. In six months the pond had thousands of minnows and at that point I added catfish and coppernose bluegills. They both flourished but unfortunately I wanted crappie and although I've added them three times I don't believe any have survived. I built a pier when I dug the lake and have power and water there. I have a small air compressor blowing air to an aerator at the deepest part of the pond. I also dug a 25' well to pump water into the pond 24 hrs per day. It doesn't keep it topped up but does slow evaporation down a lot. Mistakes? I allowed trees to get established around the pond and not I'm having to cut down 6" diameter pine trees around the lake. Lots of work I could have avoided if I had kept them cleared early on. I still love the pond. I go out on the pier every night and throw out some fish food and a hundred fingerling catfish come up for it and the occasional perch. The pond ended up being my favorite area of my farm and my grandkids enjoy going out and feeding the fish.
